Proud to graduate from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh

Alex Zinoviev shakes hands with Chancellor Richard H. Wells as he receives his diploma at UW Oshkosh's 133rd spring commencement Saturday, May 12.

University of Wisconsin Oshkosh is the third largest university in Wisconsin with an on- and off-campus enrollment of 12,500. UW Oshkosh prepared me for a fulfilling life and a challenging career. At the university, faculty, staff and students come together to form a distinctive institution that prides itself on engaging people and ideas for common good.

I am proud to be a UW Oshkosh recent graduate. Over the course of my college career I have been extremely fortunate to be actively engaged in some of the finest programs in the nation. UW Oshkosh has the most successful Model United Nations Program in the nation, which I have been an active member of for two years.

I graduated from the college of business with a marketing major. The business program is world-renowned for providing an education that meets the highest standards set by AACSB International – the Association to Advance College Schools of Business. AACSB International is the oldest and most prestigious international accrediting body for business schools. Fewer than 30 percent of the 1,500 U.S. business colleges earn and maintain this honor.

As one of the best students in the AACSB accredited college of business, I have received a lifetime membership in the International Honor Society Beta Gamma Sigma. I was also one of the best marketing students. For that I was recognized by the sales and marketing professionals of Northeast Wisconsin.

UW Oshkosh was a great place to stimulate my diverse interests. I have four emphases in advertising, graphic design, global business, and Japanese. After 156 credits and exposure to a very wide variety of courses, I graduated with Cum Laude, which is a sign of strong scholastic effort maintained in each class.

Out of approximately 2000 graduated students, I was one of 17 who received honors medallion. In order to accomplish that I had to maintain a high grade point average and complete 19 credits of honors courses, including an honors thesis titled “Use of Screen Real Estate on University Homepages.”

Aside from the scholastic achievements, I am very glad to meet some of the most outstanding people at the UW Oshkosh. They will always remain my best friends and highly admired faculty.
